Another Day Another Chance To Rescue – Eco CDs

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend came back from a trip to the high street with a double gift for me: 2 CDs!

These CDs were:

Enter Shikari‘s 3rd album, “A Flash Flood of Colour”

and

Does It Offend You, Yeah?‘s second album, “Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You“.

On top of the excitement of having 2 new CDs, I was struck by the difference between the 2 covers: Enter Shikari’s CD has a slim natural cardboard sleeve whereas Does It Offend You, Yeah’s cover is made of the ordinary chunky hard plastic.

Enter Shikari – Does It Offend You, Yeah?

I first listened to Enter Shikari in 2008 and fell in love with Jonny Sniper…         …and then all the other songs!

When I first got into this St. Albans band I read that Jonny Sniper was about protecting the world and the environment and the lyrics show this:

“Rise, taste the air, lock and load, pull the trigger,
Climb, to new heights, and tell me, tell me what you hear…

A whisper from the wind, and i cant help but listen,
It warns us of disaster, and i cant help but wonder,
Can anyone hear the same distress call?

So this is a quest to save the world,
And he’ll always be here for another,
Another day another chance to rescue…”

I had the chance of seeing Enter Shikari live twice, at the MK Bowl in 2008 and in Leeds at the Reading& Leeds Festival 2009, they’re great live, mind the mosh pits!!

Their CD sleeve also says:

It’s in your hands now, whose future?

And they have added this link: thezeitgeistmovement.com, “Founded in 2008, The Zeitgeist Movement is a Sustainability Advocacy Organization which conducts community based activism and awareness actions through a network of Global/Regional Chapters, Project Teams, Annual Events, Media and Charity Work. ”

Have a look at their mission statement.

The beautiful pictures on the CD sleeve were all taken in St. Albans City, UK.

St. Albans City – Does It Offend You, Yeah? CD

The train that I get to London every morning actually terminates in St. Albans City and that makes me feel closer to Enter Shikari. Is that sad?

Here is Does It Offend You, Yeah?’s single “The Monkeys Are Coming”

Don’t you find it refreshing to find a band that actually cares about things going on in the world?

Do you know any songs or singers who write songs about the environment?
